WHY COMPETITION IS GOOD.....SOMETIMES

Yes I know, life is hard. Everyone is looking for how to make their life easier and not add to the challenges they face. Waking up every morning with the feeling of competing with others is stressful right? But you wonder why I said it’s good, don’t you?

Now come with me let’s dive deep into the topic. I’ll like to make a clarification. There’s such a thing as healthy competition and unhealthy competition. All you need do is to be able to distinguish between them. I’ll start with healthy competition by using one or two scenarios. You’re a student. Your grades are high every term and you usually top the class. The next term, your average may be the third, fourth or fifth highest. Sometimes this happens because either your average dropped or you were comfortable being the highest so you didn’t see the need to put more efforts which is why someone else or a few people, overtook you. As much as you should be happy for them, it helps you see reasons to improve yourself. Another thing is that, you won’t always be first position every time, no matter how you try. Others should surpass you sometimes too, you too can surpass them but most importantly, the situation helps you put in your very best.

Another good scenario is in the business sector. Even without being an experienced businessman or woman, everyone is at least aware of how highly competitive, the business sector can be. One thing about business is that it also exists in other sectors be it real estate, construction industry, food and agriculture, entertainment industry, beauty industry, fashion industry, telecommunications services and so on and so forth. They all try to bring in their best to show the average consumer that they have good services and they have successfully achieved this through good advertisement strategies, high quality products and good customer service. Of course, some don’t even meet up to that standard, but the ones that do are likely to get more customers as far as they are not too costly especially in countries going through harsh economic conditions.

From all that has been previously mentioned, where it becomes a problem is when you feel others shouldn’t do well because you want to succeed and be at the top. I mentioned earlier that sometimes, people should do better than you because a lot of times, it will be for the good of community. Somebody doing so well in every area or field of interest means that their quality of product and service is very high and up to standard which will help to develop society in the long run. This is why you should never be jealous of people who are doing better than you. It is unhealthy competition when you want to pull others down because you want to be successful. You should be bold enough to face competition so that you’ll see it as an avenue to do better and not to hate others.

You can infuse new ideas into your line of work and stand out but it’s also okay for somebody else to do that tomorrow. Yes, being legitimately successful and rich is hard but there’s no need to feel like you have monopoly of being at the top. Success is not just for you but for everyone around you. When you are successful, you will be happy but when your community is successful, you will be much happier ❤️
