NDI IGBO, INVEST AT HOME!!!!

Hello everyone,I hope you’re all doing great? Sometimes I feel the need to check up on my audience because life is tough to navigate. I’m really grateful that you all can take time out of your busy schedules to read my blog and for that I’m saying a very big thank you to everyone reading ❤️❤️❤️

One of Igbo properties in Lagos being bulldozed by the Lagos state government.

Ok so to the topic!!!

Having read through Nigerian history, seeing the events or happenings of the real world, going on social media often and still watching out for the next events that will follow the previous we’ve seen,I would feel wicked telling my fellow ndi Igbo (Igbo people) to invest anywhere they like outside of ala Igbo (Igbo land). Don’t get me wrong,I don’t mean to force or coerce anyone to move their businesses because it’s their choice but having seeing the events that have occurred in Nigeria over the years concerning the Igbos, I think it’s time to sit and think about home.

I admire our resilience, strength, determination, commitment, courage and hardwork when it comes to hustle, entrepreneurship, education and career which is why we have spread all over the world taking advantage of opportunities that yield growth and success for us over the course of time. Our investments may be safe in some countries but in a country like “Nigeria” where we find ourselves, are they really safe outside Igbo land? Recent happenings will prove that. The 1967-1970 Biafran war that killed millions of our people can also serve as a reminder.

This is the reason why I live to prioritize the addition of history as a core subject in our schools so that innocent children don’t get to be robbed off knowledge of what happened to their ancestors in the past. Some of our people may be strong headed but I believe some may have acted out of ignorance of history. Remember when Igbo properties were seized after the war? Remember how £20 was shared to every Igbo person after the war regardless of how much money they owned on the banks?

Investments are great and even wise. To save in the banks is a very wise move as well but the question is,where and when should our savings and investments be kept? We have five south eastern states with thriving businesses regardless of the tough economic times and terrible leadership. Why don’t we redirect our focus towards our respective communities and begin to build and develop. The aim should be that when we get money,we improve our societies with knowledge, skills and experience while financing ongoing developments. This is usually the goal for an average Igbo person due to the apprenticeship system we have. It’s a very beautiful system I admire so much about our culture because it has created wealth for our people.

Igbo property gets bulldozed by Lagos state government.

Even though in other parts of Igbo land,we may be given land to build houses, factories or malls, the recent demolition of properties of ndi Igbo especially by the Lagos state government has given me and many other Igbo people a great cause for concern but at the same time an eye opener. Sadly, history has to repeat itself before our people understood how they are viewed in Nigeria. I really sympathize with everyone involved and to a large extent I won’t fault them entirely due to the sinister government officials making Lagos state have the only functional sea port in the entire nation. Their intentions were purely evil and we see why but regardless, our people should still make effort to send every imported items, properties and investments to ala Igbo to protect them better because we won’t say that being based in Lagos is a reason to build a whole empire while forgetting home because one day that empire will brought down and crushed before your very eyes so which option is better? The former or the latter?

Out of love from within,I’ll only say the honest truth that will benefit our people in the long run. This is not just for us, but our future generations so that our actions will let them know that home is therapeutic, sweet, beautiful, comfortable. Let us come back and build our home,a place we will be proud of, for there is no place like home ❤️❤️❤️
